Imagine having to crawl while supporting yourself with your wrists wherever you go.
Rat terrier puppy, 13 weeks old Siggi would have had to endure this for his entire life. Yet it was more likely that he would be put to death.
Thankfully, there were good-hearted individuals who wished to assist.
A little terrier was born with its paws turned inward. That wasn’t caused by a break or an injury. That’s how the puppy was created.
Eric Clary, a skilled surgeon, claims that the issues began either at birth or when the dog was still in the womb.
The elbows suddenly emerged from their flimsy joints and twisted nearly 180 degrees, causing the paws to point skyward.
When Siggi arrived at the Dallas animal shelter, she was just 13 weeks old.
Like any other puppy her age, she was absolutely normal. With the exception of the twisted paws, she was in wonderful health, enjoyed playing, and wagged her tail.
And because of them, Siggi was unable to move normally; instead, she had to crouch and rely on her wrists.
Of course, this had an impact on how well she was living. And the animal shelter made the decision to assist the dog at any cost.
By happenstance, they learned that a similar procedure had already been completed in a clinic at the Veterinary University.
And the Dallas animal shelter made the decision to take Siggi into its care.
After an additional month and a half, Siggi was released. The dog came back to the shelter. She still had a long way to go in her recovery.
