While it’s heartbreaking that someone could be so callous as to abandon a puppy, it’s heartening to know that there are good people ready to step up and save these innocent animals.
This happened recently when a helpless dog was left outside in the rain, tethered to a picnic table, until a kind soul came to his rescue.
In a video shared by Stray Rescue of St. Louis, a small dog is shown tied to a table in a park’s picnic area. The footage captures the dog, drenched and scared, yelping repeatedly as if pleading for help.
But as soon as Donna, a rescuer, arrived and untied the frightened pup, he quickly warmed up to her, as if sensing that he was finally safe.
“He was so brave when we first approached,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared. “But as soon as we got in the Jeep, he curled up on Donna’s lap and let out a deep sigh—that sigh said so much.”
“You’re okay, sweet little baby. We’ll take care of you.”
The dog was named Wilbur by the rescue team. Upon examination, they discovered he was covered in ringworm and immediately began treatment with medicinal baths.
Just a few days after his rescue, Wilbur found himself in a loving foster home. His foster mom told The Dodo that Wilbur is a “snuggle bug” and “doing great.” She added, “He wants nothing more than to be loved.”
Though Wilbur’s past is unclear, it’s evident that he hasn’t received the love and care he deserves. But now, this little dog seems to have a bright future ahead of him.
Stray Rescue of St. Louis shared on Facebook, “He’ll never have to be lonely or muster up that much bravery ever again.”
Thank you to those who rescued this sweet pup, brought him out of the rain, and gave him a new beginning. His expression says it all—he knows he’s in good hands.
