Because no animal should ever be forced to be put down due to overcrowding, no-kill shelters are a godsend because they guarantee that all animals have a secure place to stay while they wait for their forever homes.
The largest no-kill facility in the country is a brand-new facility that will undoubtedly save the lives of many animals.
In Shorter, Alabama, Big Dog Ranch Rescue recently unveiled a new facility. It serves as the rescue’s secondary location; it also works in Florida’s Palm Beach County.
According to AL.com, the 100-acre new campus in Macon County was formerly a center for training greyhounds.
The enormous new shelter is being built at a time when “dog euthanasia is at an all-time high rate” in shelters, according to the rescue’s website. The new headquarters will allow the organization to increase its current rescue activities, which currently span eight states.
They will be able to give neglected and abused canines the care and refuge. The location will act as a hub where they can transport animals from congested shelters to those with room.
Thirteen kennels on the property, along with other support structures, still need to be renovated; therefore, the renovations are currently ongoing. However, the shelter is open and now houses 100 canines.
