On Tuesday Ribeiro entered the classroom where her kids were gathered. She also spotted a strange dog there. She questioned her students to see if the puppy belonged to any of them, assuming the dog hadn’t come to class to learn a new language.
They replied “No,” Ribeiro said to The Dodo. “My dog-mom instinct came on when I saw her, looking lost.”
Ribeiro decided not to kick the puppy out for disrupting class.
She massaged the tiny puppy while holding her in her arms. She scarcely missed a beat when she started the day’s lesson after that.
“What if one of my dogs was in this?” I questioned Ribeiro’s statement that “She should be hugged, please.” She was really calm and seemed to be enjoying the situation.
One of Ribeiro’s students took these photos of her and her dog and gave them to her.
Ribeiro was able to find out the dog’s origin story after class. She had actually gone to school that day with a friend from a different class, but they had ended up in the wrong place. She quickly got back together with her real owner.
While it’s likely that Ribeiro’s students will remember the day the dog attended their class as a humorous school memory, she hopes they’ll also remember it for a more significant reason.
