Since the release of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws, many people now consider sharks, along with bears, gorillas, and rhinos, as one of the few creatures that are simply pure badass. Just take a look at them; these are whole units that already emanate awesomeness.
Well, sharks just got more fantastic. Recent pictures show a large shark getting some fresh air, or 15 feet of it, as it rises from the water.
Chris Fallows took the pictures at Seal Island in South Africa for the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week. The channel gathered shark photographers as part of the program to capture the greatest images of a shark breach.
To record the breaches, a lot of people used drone technology. But the images Chris took with towed cameras have suddenly captured everyone’s attention.
A picture is said to be worth a thousand words. That image, though, speaks a thousand words. It was absolutely amazing; a picture you dream about. I can’t believe how high it turned out. Fallows said, “This has to be the best air jaws breach ever.
Fallows and his crew, along with other teams, had been floating in the sea in pursuit of such a moment for three months when the spectacular image appeared. He waited to recreate the photo for “literally thousands of hours” while lying on his stomach with a camera in his palm.
He and his team towed the sled for days, and there were times when he worried he had lost his camera in the water. They knew their efforts had paid off when this shark appeared. It was a 10-foot-tall young fellow who had boundless energy and jumped like a real.
“The shark jumped from the sea. It appears to be trying to dismember its leg as it twists and turns in the air”, according to Fallows.
