Baby chimpanzee Djibril found himself without maternal care immediately after birth.
After being rejected by his mother, Djibril sought comfort and companionship by cuddling with a stuffed monkey toy, symbolizing the affection he longed for.

The heartwarming image of the baby chimpanzee embracing the toy went viral, capturing the hearts of people worldwide.
However, Djibril’s story took a positive turn when the Biopark in Valencia, known for creating natural habitats for wild animals, offered him a new home.

Initially, it was hoped that an experienced female named Malin would adopt Djibril. However, she showed no interest in the young chimpanzee.
Fortunately, another resident of the Biopark, named Eva, stepped in and took Djibril under her care as if he were her own offspring. Their bond grew stronger over time, and they became inseparable.

His presence in the Biopark played a crucial role in contributing to the preservation of the critically endangered West African chimpanzee population, which has sadly vanished from four countries according to the World Wildlife Fund.
The Biopark staff hoped that Djibril’s successful adaptation and integration into the group would lead to the expansion of the chimpanzee family, fostering a brighter future for these endangered primates.
