Moscow Zoo recently celebrated a delightful event over the weekend as two beloved pandas, Ding-Ding and Ruyi, commemorated their birthdays. Ding-Ding, a brave and spirited female, turned four years old, while the fearless male Ruyi reached the age of five. These charming pandas, adored by both visitors and keepers alike, are on the verge of adulthood but maintain their distinctive personalities. Ding-Ding is known for her cunning and willful nature, while Ruyi is characterized by his straightforward, brave, and cheerful spirit.
The zookeepers spared no effort in preparing for the pandas’ special day, beginning their arrangements weeks in advance. They created two cardboard cakes adorned with a variety of vegetables, fruits, and bamboo, as well as personalized surprises for each panda. Ruyi received a large pool filled with not only their favorite delicacies but also colorful ice cones tinted with food dyes. Meanwhile, Ding-Ding was treated to a huge “cocktail glass” embellished with intriguing umbrellas.
Contrary to popular stereotypes, pandas are highly active animals, requiring both physical and intellectual stimulation to prevent boredom. To cater to these needs, the zoo’s specialists regularly engage Ding-Ding and Ruyi in training sessions, providing them with a multitude of intricate toys and objects for study.
The birthdays of these pandas are celebrated as significant events at the Moscow Zoo, highlighting the affection and care bestowed upon these beloved creatures. Visitors and keepers alike revel in the festivities, making the occasion a memorable one for all involved.
