The story of Jack, a police horse from Liverpool, UK, who refuses to begin his workday without a cup of sweet tea, has gained media attention.
According to the Daily Mail, Jack, who is now 20 years old, first tasted sweet tea when he was five and has been hooked ever since. He insists on having his tea made just right, with skimmed milk, two tablespoons of sugar, and a little cold water to avoid burning himself.
The Merseyside Mounted Police Department now starts each workday with a tea party with Jack, who lies in his stall with his nose in the sawdust, eagerly awaiting his tea. However, while Jack’s love for tea may seem endearing, the stable staff has learned to be cautious around him with mugs as he tends to try and take the tea away from anyone he sees with a cup in their hand.
Despite this, Lindsay Gaven, head of the Police Department and a part-time equestrian trainer, describes Jack as having a lot of character, and the department is happy to accommodate his unique tea preferences.
