A terrible accident on the highway prevented Journey and the other 28 horses from being sent to be slaughtered.
When 10 of the horses couldn’t survive, it was in October 2020. The Humane Society’s Longmeadow Rescue Ranch received the others.
They seemed to have shock, bodily injuries, head and eye injuries, and leg abrasions. Thank goodness, the rescue ranch looked after them and acquired the horses.
It was tragically established that the animals were being transported to a slaughterhouse. They won’t suffer such a horrific fate, which is wonderful news.
One of the horses was pregnant, which was discovered by the rescue crew after a month. Fortunately, Journey, the pregnant horse, suffered just minor injuries in the collision. She was able to get well and have a peaceful pregnancy.
On Facebook, the animal shelter made a post stating that they would be live-streaming the birth of the Journey’s child. Such an amazing time it was!
The mother gave birth to a healthy colt, who was given the name Cruiser, on August 16. They are both now under the protection of their caregivers. The adoptable Journey and Cruiser are both in good health.
