The moment Salvador the bull was born, he was labeled as “undesirable.” Male calves are completely useless for the local dairy sector because they don’t produce milk or “grow fat enough” to be sold profitably in the beef market. Breeders either slaughter the male calves as soon as they are born or retain them until butchers will pay a fair price for them.
Salvador was barely alive when workers from the nearby NGO “AnimalLibre” discovered him. He had many illnesses, a fever, and was covered in his own urine and excrement. The volunteers saved the starving calf and brought him to the “Equality Sanctuary” for more treatment.
The effort to revive Salvador’s dying body and soul was a whole other one for the sanctuary staff. He felt afraid and disheartened. When he finally saw the huge, green farm for the first time in his life. It lifted his spirits.
The video which was recorded six months after Salvador was saved, demonstrates how far he has come since his abusive past. He is not currently locked in a box. His life is not currently being counted down to the slaughterhouse. He spends his days snuggling with his caregivers and hanging out with his farm friends! We can tell that he has found his ideal happily ever after.
