Holly Brown recently noticed something odd while she was watching her seven hens forage and graze in her Canadian garden.
The spherical object was hidden in the grass next to the chicken coop, but she had never noticed it before.
According to Brown’s email to The Dodo, “At first, I thought it was a ball the dog discovered. I lifted it, surprised to see that it was an egg.
Holly Brown, a Canadian housewife, had just finished watching her seven hens forage and graze in her backyard when she noticed something odd.
She pointed to something in the grass near the chicken coop: a circular object she had never seen before.
In an email to The Dodo, Brown stated, “At first, I thought it was a ball the dog discovered.” When I lifted it up, I was shocked to see that it was an egg.
Evidently, on that particular day, one of Brown’s chickens had decided to lay an egg that was almost precisely round rather than the regular egg form.
Nothing Brown had ever seen was like it.
Brown decided to post the peculiar egg on social media. This was how she discovered how special that gift from her chicken really was.
A friend of Brown’s relayed another story of a woman who found a round egg and later sold it for hundreds of dollars.
The probability of finding a round egg was described in accounts at the time as one in a billion.
Meanwhile, Brown emphasized that she has no intention of selling her precious spherical egg. She will treasure it as a talking point and as a wonderful gift from her beloved birds.
“I consider my chickens to be pets,” Brown said. It’s entertaining to watch their antics every day.
