Little Duckling Truly Believes the Owl To Be Her Mother

This owl builds her nest next to Laurie Wolf’s house. The owner of these lovely and loving images as well as the person who recounted this story, Laurie Wolf is from Florida. Laurie enjoys taking pictures of birds, and at this time, she observed what the owl was doing. Unexpectedly, she once noticed a duckling next to the owl. She initially believed it to be a baby owl, but Laurie realized it was actually a duckling.

However, a bird specialist recommended Laurie take the duckling from the owl nest. Because owls may eat young ducks as well. Laurie finally removed the duckling from the nest. According to Laurie, the baby duck truly believes the owl to be her mother.

Director of Bird Studies Canada, Christian Artuso, stated that although “it is not frequently documented, it does happen.” In the nest of another duck or a closely related species, female ducks may deposit one or two eggs. This is another lovely aspect of our mother nature that we haven’t heard about.
