The newborn animal was discovered dehydrated and alone. Clearly, it weighed just 540 grams. The bear cub was immediately transferred to the Virginia Wildlife Center. When they arrived, they immediately placed it in an incubator and began feeding it.
“This has been a terrific example of working together to save a wild animal,” said Amanda Nicholson, the Wildlife Center’s outreach coordinator.
A newborn bear was accidentally carried home by a family dog in Washington County, Georgia. The bear was thirsty and weighed just 540 grams. The cub was brought to the Wildlife Center. He gained weight because the staff fed him.
The cub is no longer on its own! A mother bear will feed him and keep him warm.
