Zendaya and Tom Holland have become one of the most globally popular and talked-about couples.
Despite initial skepticism when the stars met on the set of a new Spider-Man film, their relationship was seen by many as a publicity stunt for the movie. However, it soon became evident that their connection was far more than just a PR romance. Nonetheless, the couple faced their fair share of obstacles.
In an interview, Zendaya candidly confessed that she occasionally struggles to understand her boyfriend due to his accent.
While the public often finds British accents charming, Zendaya humorously admitted that she still has difficulty comprehending certain subtleties, specifically when it comes to Tom’s Cockney accent.
Cockney is a well-known dialect associated with London. Cockneys employ distinct pronunciation and have their own unique vocabulary, often using rhyming slang where words are replaced with others that rhyme with the original term.
“I grasp the basic concept, but why would ‘apples and pears’ refer to stairs?” Zendaya playfully inquired, referring to the Cockney expression “Get up those apples to bed” where “stairs” is replaced by “apples.”
While finding Tom’s accent endearing, Zendaya good-naturedly admitted that she sometimes struggles to understand him.
On another note, the couple is actively planning to establish a shared residence together. They recently purchased a £3 million house in Richmond and are awaiting the completion of renovations. The upcoming changes will include a cinema, a gym, and a dedicated “bachelor’s lair.”
Zendaya’s honest admission about her difficulty understanding Tom’s accent adds a delightful and relatable touch to their high-profile relationship, which continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
