Terry Meredith, a 65-year-old resident of Uley, Gloucestershire, fulfilled a childhood dream by building a remarkable tree house with a stunning view of the surroundings. The inspiration for the project came when Terry initially intended to cut down a tree in his garden but was captivated by the view from its top.
Instead of removing the tree, Terry decided to construct a small house on it, wanting to share the incredible scenery with his family and friends. Over the course of eight months, Terry, who had experience as an electrician and carpenter, undertook most of the work himself, occasionally receiving assistance from friends and acquaintances. The tree house, made primarily of pine, features stairs crafted from local oak and chestnut wood. Terry invested approximately £8,000 in the construction of the house.
Situated 5 meters above the ground, the tree house boasts a room capable of accommodating up to 10 people, complete with a barbecue area. However, the main attraction is undoubtedly the platform that offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the surroundings. The house is cleverly concealed by the tree when viewed from the side, giving the impression that there is nothing there.
Terry takes great pleasure in sharing the beauty of his tree house with others. He has even hosted his neighbors for a special anniversary celebration and allows charities to utilize the house, sometimes receiving donations that he contributes to charitable causes. Terry’s generosity is driven by his desire to share the amazing views his tree house provides with everyone.
