Fans were amazed by a new portrait of Princess Charlotte released in honor of her 8th birthday, with many noting how much she resembles her grandmother.

Princess Charlotte, who once stole hearts by sticking her tongue out at the cameras during the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has now turned 8. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge marked the occasion by sharing a lovely new portrait of their daughter on their official social media account.

Taken by Kate Middleton at their family residence in Windsor, the photo features Charlotte seated in a white wicker chair, wearing a snow-white dress adorned with light blue and pink floral patterns, with her long hair swept to one side and a beaming smile on her face.

Comparing her childhood pictures with those of her father, Prince William, at the same age, one can see that Princess Charlotte has inherited certain features from both her dad and her grandmother, such as their eye shape and button nose.

She was born at St Mary’s Hospital in London on May 2, 2015, and named Charlotte Elizabeth Diana a few days later. As the third child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, she follows her brothers Prince George and Prince Louis, who were also born at the same hospital.

Princess Charlotte’s upcoming eighth birthday is especially significant as it falls just prior to her grandfather’s coronation. She is expected to accompany her siblings to the ceremony, according to The Times.

After the service, Prince George, Queen Consort Camilla, and her two children Charlotte and Louis will leave Westminster Abbey together with Charles and Camilla riding in the Golden State Coach and the kids following in another carriage. Although it is uncertain if Prince Louis will attend the public event, Princess Charlotte’s birthday makes the occasion even more special.
