The Met Gala 2023, one of the year’s most significant fashion events, took place in New York on the evening of May 1.
While some stars were arriving at the red carpet, others were already taking pictures and mingling with guests. Among the attendees were Penélope Cruz and Dua Lipa. As Chanel’s ambassador and muse of Karl Lagerfeld, it was not surprising to see Penélope Cruz at the Ball. Dua Lipa, known for her impeccable style, was also invited to the event. Interestingly, both celebrities chose very similar outfits.
As expected, Chanel had a significant representation at the event. Lipa wore a white maxi dress from the 1992 Chanel Haute Couture show that Claudia Schiffer had previously worn. Penelope also chose a dress that had a bridal aesthetic. This trend was evident even at the Oscars red carpet, and it seems that we will see more “bride outfits” this evening.
Penelope and Dua starred together, making for an interesting “battle of the brides.” Cruz wore a dress with a translucent cape, lots of decoration, and makeup with an emphasis on the eyes. Lipa’s dress was more minimalist, but also romantic and perfectly matched her loose hair. Internet users are debating whose outfit looks better, but there is no clear favorite.
