The 13-year-old boy who saved 15 children during the fire in the Odessa camp “Victoria” was first mentioned by Odessa City Council deputy Alexander Ivanitsky. Maxim Tikhonchuk is the name of the child.
“He pulled the kids from five rooms.” That is the life of 15 kids! “And on Monday, I just went to school with burnt hands…,” Alexander Ivanitsky wrote on Facebook.
Maxim Tikhonchuk’s teacher claims that despite his ordeal, Maxim “had truly been in class for the second day.” – Maxim is quite bashful and dislikes talking about himself. This young man is a true hero. Maxim was in another building when the fire started in the camp. However, he reacted swiftly when he noticed that the nearby building was on fire, running there to rescue the kids.
Maxim claimed that the fire broke out suddenly. Maxim broke doors and windows before removing the kids. Many people were saved by him. Only the room where the three girls died was out of his reach. There was nothing that could be done because the door had melted and would not budge. Maxim worries a lot about this. He even holds himself accountable for the deaths of these kids. I don’t believe that every adult could act like this child did.
On September 15, 2017, late in the evening, a fire broke out on the grounds of the “Victoria” children’s medical complex.
The fire destroyed the structure in which it started. Three kids perished in the fire, and two more were taken to the hospital. Children were seen jumping out of the building’s windows during the fire, according to eyewitnesses.
