John Legend and Chrissy Teigen experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage before the birth of their third child. Since then, they have openly shared their journey, revealing that they secretly welcomed a fourth child through surrogacy.
The couple was assisted by a surrogate named Alexandra, to whom they showed immense gratitude for her role in bringing their child into the world. Chrissy described Alexandra as “the most incredible, loving, compassionate surrogate we could ever imagine” in a heartfelt blog post.
“The moment we talked with her, I knew she was the right person for us,” Chrissy wrote. “All of our dreams and desires came true. I wanted to rest my head on her belly and feel the kicks and hiccups, I wanted our kids to play together, I wanted dinner together, and I wanted to be her friend. I wished for them to be part of our lives for as long as possible.”
Chrissy detailed how Alexandra “fought to get ready for a second transfer,” enduring the “mental toll” and sacrificing “her own body” for surgeries. Concurrently, Chrissy Teigen was carrying their daughter Esti, while Alexandra was pregnant with their son. Chrissy shared their joy when they discovered Alexandra was having a boy.
“We watched Vanderpump Rules with our expanding bellies and celebrated with hot pot together for the past year,” Chrissy reminisced. “I got to witness the most beautiful woman, my friend, our surrogate, give birth amidst a bit of chaos, but with strength, pure joy, and love,” she said on Instagram on June 19.
To honor Alexandra, Chrissy and John made a heartfelt decision. “We would like to express our gratitude for this amazing gift you have given us, Alexandra,” Chrissy wrote. “We are overjoyed to announce his arrival to the world, bearing the name Wren Alexander Stephens, which will always be associated with you.”
The couple’s two older children are Luna and Miles, and six months ago, they welcomed their third daughter, Esti. John Legend also posted a photo of himself and his family with their newest addition, captioning it, “Wren Alexander Stephens, our new love.”
