On June 18, after an evening at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor with friends, well-known musician Justin Timberlake was unexpectedly taken into custody on DWI charges. The 43-year-old “Selfish” artist faced allegations of driving under the influence.
A source revealed that Justin was visibly shaken after his arrest, spending a restless night in detention. “He was freaking out and stayed up all night when he was in custody,” the source said. Justin insisted it wasn’t a wild night, claiming he only had one drink, telling the arresting officer, “I followed my friends home and I had one martini.”
Justin’s lawyer has not yet commented on the incident. However, despite this unfortunate event, it appears Justin plans to continue his tour as scheduled. “For him, it’s business as usual,” the insider noted. “The tour is proceeding as planned.”
The incident occurred during a break in Timberlake’s Forget Tomorrow World Tour. His next appearances are set for June 21 and 22 in Chicago and June 25 and 26 in New York City, with the tour concluding in December.
Following his departure from the American Hotel, Justin received citations for disobeying a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane, in addition to the DUI charge. The arrest report also mentioned that his eyes were blurry and bloodshot.
A second source told PEOPLE that Justin was simply “hanging out with friends” that evening. However, his repeated refusal to submit to a chemical test complicated matters, leading to his night at the Sag Harbor Police Headquarters. He was released the next morning.
Justin’s court appearance is scheduled for July 26, coinciding with his tour stop at the Tauron Arena in Kraków, Poland. “Mr. Burke looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations,” said Edward Burke Jr., his attorney. “When the time is right, he will say a great deal. The DA’s office is currently holding him up for full discovery.”
