As a parent, you want to give your child everything and more. No task is too big, no cause too small, no mountain too high.
Why? Because you never want your children to experience loneliness, fear, or sadness.
When Ben Sowards, a father from Utah, received a call from his 6-year-old daughter’s school, he knew he had to go immediately. Valeria had a small accident and wet her pants. Although she was safe, Ben understood the embarrassment his young daughter would feel.
Before leaving to pick her up, Ben had an idea. He decided to make her laugh and ease her discomfort. According to the Huffington Post, Ben spilled water on his own jeans before getting into the car and heading to the school.
Upon arriving, he asked Valeria if he could use her school bag to “hide” something. When Valeria noticed the large wet stain on her father’s crotch, she realized what he was doing.
As soon as Valeria saw that her dad was in the “same” predicament, things improved. “I knew she was embarrassed,” Sowards said, “but I thought if I could make her laugh, everything would be okay.” She was quite upset, but when she saw my jeans, she gave me that look that said everything was fine. Every dad knows that look. We just walked out of the school as if nothing had happened.
Ben could have simply picked up his daughter, but he went above and beyond to prevent her from feeling ashamed. What a wonderful father!
While there are many amazing fathers in the world, few have the creative imagination that Ben does. Please feel free to share this story on Facebook to honor Ben Sowards for his incredible initiative.
