Jackie Johnson-Smith experienced an unexpected act of kindness while dining with her family at a pizza restaurant in Iowa.
She posted a picture of the restaurant bill on Facebook, stating, “I have breastfed three children. I have done it in countless situations, both public and private, during happy and unhappy times. Despite receiving many looks and stares, tonight changed all of that. It was my first time eating at Fong’s tonight. I spent some time in the booth nursing my grumpy baby before getting up early to avoid disturbing the other diners.”
“The waitress gave this receipt to my husband. I couldn’t speak because I was so emotional. I don’t expect praise for feeding my child, but it felt incredible. The last words on the receipt read, ‘It’s amazing how women can empower and support each other.’”
The note was written by waitress Bodi Kinney, who told KCCI 8 News in Des Moines, “We need to come together and support each other when it comes to nursing our children.”
