Paul Skinner, a 58-year-old man, went biking with a few friends when they noticed something odd moving in a ditch beside the road along a more isolated stretch. Curiosity piqued, they chose to get closer to see what was happening. As they approached, they saw a scared, seemingly abandoned dog attempting to shield a sack in its jaws.
However, the men were taken aback when they opened the bag. Inside were four deceased puppies, appearing to have been born on the same day. Horrified by their discovery, the men immediately contacted the police. Representatives from an animal shelter also arrived, picked up the dog, and named her Carly.
After some investigation, the authorities concluded that Carly had been left in that ditch with her puppies shortly after giving birth. Despite being abandoned by her owner, Carly never left her puppies’ side, though it appears she was unable to free them from the securely fastened plastic bag. It is hoped that Carly’s owner will be apprehended and made to pay for this cruel act. Not only did he abandon the mother and puppies, but he also placed them in a knotted plastic bag, effectively giving them a death sentence. Carly is a spaniel cocker.
Unfortunately, instances of animal maltreatment and abandonment are on the rise. More severe penalties and stricter legislation are needed for those who commit these crimes. We can only hope that Carly will find a loving home and receive the care she needs. She is a brave dog who chose to stay with her puppies until the very end, despite the heat and lack of food or water.
